Silver thimble with scratch engraved initials ’MH’ within rectangular cartouche. Stamped maker’s mark ’BG’ within panel to side. There is a simple rope line pattern around the lower rim. The top is separate and has been soldered to the lower part.
Found on the likely site of Ketsby Manor the initials ’MH’ most likely relate to Mary Hurd who was the daughter of the tenant William Hurd during the period this type of thimble was in use.
