Description:
|
A fragment of a cloth seal, consisting of part of two paired discs. One disc has a quartered shield of arms with the date 1545 above and an uncertain letter or character on each side. The first quarter of the shield bears a lion rampant, the second quarter is unclear and the other two quarters are missing from the fragment. The second disc of the seal depicts St. Michael thrusting a spear into the devil (possibly in the form of a dragon). The origin of the seal is uncertain.
A cloth seal with a slightly different depiction of St. Michael is recorded on the PAS database: SOMDOR-6D1E97.
