Description:
|
A fragment of a single loop buckle possibly dating to the late Roman or early Anglo-Saxon period. The frame is locally constricted where the (missing) pin was fitted, and has an integral but separate strap bar. The bar is flanked by a pair of roundels, which are both decorative and serve to space it from the loop. Each roundel is recessed and has a conical central indentation. The remaining part of the loop suggests that it was oval in shape.
