A small discoidal copper-alloy object, possibly a one-piece button with an incomplete drilled shank. The front is slightly convex and bears a linear cross superimposed on a linear saltire, the device being enclosed within a plain circle. The discernible arms of the cross have pattée terminals, while those of the saltire have pierced semicircular terminals. The design appears to be inlaid with niello. The back is flat and has two plain concentric circles moulded in relief close to the edge. The edge is chipped.
