Description: Medieval gold finger ring dating to the late 14th or early 15th century. 18mm diameter and triangular in section the hoop accommodates the inscription ' + GOD HELP AMEN' repeated on each side of the outer bevel.


During this religious age, rings were considered to have mystical/magical properties and are known to have been worn to cure ailments such as epilepsy and paralysis. Rings used for this purpose were sometimes known as ‘cramp’ rings.
