A fragment of one half of a two-part copper-alloy mould for casting axe-heads of the Middle or Late Bronze Age. The fragment is from the blade end of the mould and would have produced an axe-head with an almost straight cutting edge and a slightly tapered blade. The groove around the form of the axe-head would have provided a means of positively aligning the two halves of the mould. The external surface of the fragment is slightly convex. In the absence of the butt end of the mould, it is uncertain whether the axe-heads cast in it would have been of the solid form of the Middle Bronze Age, or the socketed type of the Late Bronze Age.
