A complete copper alloy crotal bell, with what looks to be a separately cast and soldered suspension loop, copper wire still attached. The bell has good all round patina, also intact is the iron pea clapper. The top half of the bell is of plain design, the bottom half being of a sunburst design. At the base of the bell divided by the slit and within a circle are the initials R W. The initials being those of Robert Wells (c.1760-1781) or his son Robert Wells Jnr (c.1781-1799), both were located in Aldbourne, Wiltshire.
