Description:
|
The mechanism only of a barrel or spring-barb padlock of the medieval period. The main component is a cast end-plate with an integral arm and collar, and two projecting strips. The collar would have housed the bolt on the missing case. The strips each have a rivet hole at the free end to secure the springs, one of which survives intact. On the external face of the end-plate there is a riveted copper-alloy loop.
