											An Anglo-Saxon triangular hooked tag (dress hook). The tag is triangular in shape, with randomly applied wriggle work and punched-dot decoration on the front surface. The upper edge of the triangle, which contained the holes that allowed the tag to be sewn to a garment, is missing, as is most of the sharp rearward-facing hook. <br />

It is circular with two peripheral pierced lugs with a cusp between them for stitching to a garment; only one of the pierced lugs survives. Decoration consists of an indented ring of oblique hatching within inner and outer circles. The center panel has been engraved to form irregularly shaped connecting triangles. The sharp hook remains intact.<br />

The body has sustained some damage in that the upper part has broken away, the two drilled holes in the lower half making an effective later repair for attachment purposes. Decoration consists of indented hatching within a peripheral ring, and a simple sunburst design to the centre. The sharp hook is intact.<br />

The tag is probably of a style once incorporating two projecting attachment lugs, and designated to Read Class D, Type 1 (see below reference and <a href="https://www.ukdfd.co.uk/artefact/early-medieval/hooked-tags/hooked-tag-34414.html">UKDFD 34414</a> - <a href="https://www.ukdfd.co.uk/artefact/early-medieval/hooked-tags/hooked-tag-43359.html">UKDFD 43359</a>).
