											A post-medieval iron rowel spur with applied brass decoration. The spur is complete except for the terminals and the rowel itself, which are now missing. The heel-band and sides are of shallow D-shaped cross-section. The neck is quite short, and the rowel box, now filled with iron corrosion, is shallow-throated. The applied brass decoration is in the form of two very thin strips of pressed brass soldered to the respective sides of the spur. The decoration consists of several (5?) connected panels, defined by their ribbed borders, each containing a symmetrical arrangement of annulets and fleurettes.<br />

A two-piece asymmetrical buckle with spiked chape is attached to one of the studs by a simple articulated hinge.

											A copper-alloy spur attachment dating to the post-medieval period. The fitting has a lozenge-shaped body, which tapers to a closed, forward-facing hooked end with two lateral lobes at the junction. A mushroom-shaped stud with a large teardrop-shaped head is riveted to the centre of the lozenge-shaped section. The leathers were attached by means of the stud, and the fitting was hooked to one of the spur terminals (see <a href="https://www.ukdfd.co.uk/artefact/post-medieval-to-modern/spurs-including-rowels-and-hook-attachments/rowel-spur-fragment-5673.html">UKDFD 5673</a> and <a href="https://www.ukdfd.co.uk/artefact/post-medieval-to-modern/spurs-including-rowels-and-hook-attachments/rowel-spur-fragment-28172.html">UKDFD 28172</a>).
