An incomplete late Victorian Glengarry cap badge in the form of a Queen Victoria crown. Badges of this type, where the crown is used alone, were often worn by Volunteer and Militia units to distinguish themselves from Regular battalions.
Note
Dorset and neighbouring counties had multiple Rifle Volunteer Corps and Volunteer Battalions whose earliest badges were just the Victoria crown, including:
1st Dorset Rifle Volunteers
2nd Dorset Rifle Volunteers
Dorsetshire Rifle Volunteers (post‑1881 Volunteer Battalions)
These units operated, trained, and recruited in and around Child Okeford, making the provenance very consistent.

A cap badge of The Dorsetshire Regiment of the type in use from 1900 until 1951.

A circular badge depicting The Dorsetshire Regimental crest, the castle and key of Gibraltar within a laurel wreath. Above the castle there is a Sphinx on a tablet inscribed, 'MARABOUT' - the Marabout battle honour awarded for capturing Fort Marabout, Egypt in 1801. Below the castle is the regiment's motto, 'PRIMUS IN INDIS' (First in India), awarded after the victorious battle at Plassey in 1757.

The Dorsetshire Regiment was formed in 1881 by the amalgamation of the 39th Regiment of Foot - the 39th (Dorsetshire) Regiment, and the 54th Regiment of Foot - the 54th (West Norfolk) Regiment.

In 1951 the regimental title was officially changed from 'The Dorsetshire Regiment' to 'The Dorset Regiment', and seven years later the unit was amalgamated with The Devonshire Regiment to form The Devonshire and Dorset Regiment.
The initials probably refer to the Catholic Boys' Brigade, of which there would appear to be two homonymous but unrelated organisations, one established in England and the other in Ireland. The unattributed extract below - from a post on The Great War (1914-1918) Forum - refers to the English organisation.

"The Catholic Boys' Brigade was founded in Deptford in 1896 by Fr Felix Segesser. The object of the C.B.B. was to keep Catholic lads attached to their religion, and to promote habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Selfrespect, and all that tends towards a true Christian Manliness. The Brigade's uniform, military discipline, drills, gymnastics, signalling classes, and annual seven days of camping strongly attracted the lads. It was not in any way a military cadet corps, though incidentally its training was of great physical benefit. The CBB enjoyed a countrywide expansion between 1900-10 with one unit even started in Newfoundland."
