A copper-alloy fitting for attaching leathers to a spur terminal. It is in the form of a rectangular plate with a long rearward-facing hook extending from one end. The front of the plate is crudely decorated with an incised saltire, two lateral notches and two transverse grooves.

It would seem from datable finds that one-piece double-hooked spur attachments (e.g. UKDFD 47255) were in general use until about 1400, after which they were progressively superseded by the single-hooked type with a separately attached stud (e.g. UKDFD 47030). From the images alone, it is unclear whether the present example is of the former or latter type. No fracture surface is apparent on the edge of the plate, but the central area of the back is obscured by the existing hook.
