Description:		A square threepenny token of William Cussons Ltd, probably struck by The Mint, Birmingham, Ltd. Michael Mitchiner (see References below) lists other denominations of Cussons tokens as refreshment tokens, but notes that "The range of values suggests that these tokens were used for business purposes as well as for staff refreshment." William Cussons Ltd. were provision merchants with headquarters in Hull in 1892. They remained in business until the Second World War.

Description:		A countermarked silver coin, possibly an Irish 'slap token'. Both the obverse and reverse of the coin are worn completely smooth, but the diameter of the flan suggests that it is probably an early milled sixpence (originally with a diameter of about 20mm). There are numerous countermarks especially on the 'obverse' face, which possibly explains the slightly concave appearance. W J Davis (The nineteenth century token coinage of Great Britain, Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) describes Irish slap tokens thus: "So much had Ireland been neglected that worn shillings and sixpences, without any trace of the obverse or reverse designs, were in circulation, countermarked with the initials and names of various tradesmen and shopkeepers. These were called "slap tokens," from being countermarked by another trader, probably to induce acceptance. They were almost as thin as a hammered English silver penny, and like the imitation regal halfpence and farthings of the second decade of George III., show the depressed state into which the coinage of Ireland had fallen - indeed had almost disappeared."

Description:		A countermarked silver coin, possibly an Irish 'slap token'. Both the obverse and reverse of the coin are worn completely flat, but the diameter of the flan suggests that it is probably an early milled shilling (originally with a diameter of about 25.4mm dia and a weight of 6g). The countermarks are stamped on one face only, and consist of a cross, a pair of dividers spanning the number 3, and an inscription, possibly MEA, but the first letter is only partially struck and uncertain. Description:		A very crudely stamped halfpenny-sized copper 'token', probably made from a heavily worn coin. The obverse is manually stamped with the name 'CHARLES BLACKMAN' and the date 'NOVr the 30th 1714', and the reverse is stamped with name 'IAMES L HOWELL' and the date '1714'. Randomly positioned stars are also stamped on both sides. The purpose of the 'token' is uncertain.

Description:		A manually engraved halfpenny-sized copper token, probably made from a heavily worn coin. The obverse is inscribed with the name 'R Knight' in neat cursive script above the date 1772. The reverse is deeply incised with an uncertain spade-shaped object. Tokens of this type were possibly made by small traders for use as small change at a time when the official copper coinage had dried up. The uncertain object on the second side is possibly an image of whatever the issuer offered for sale.

The following information is from The Tailwaggers Club Trust website: "The Tailwaggers Club was founded in 1928 by Captain Horace Hobbs. Dogs that became members of The Tailwaggers Club received a special collar medallion engraved with the Club’s logo and the motto ‘I help my pals’. In just over a year, the Club flourished and more than 200,000 dogs had enrolled, enabling £20,000 to be donated to help the work of the Royal Veterinary College. In 1930, The Tailwaggers Club was able to offer financial support to the newly-formed Guide Dogs for the Blind. During the mid-30’s, the Club had almost a million dog members, many of them belonging to the Royal family and famous celebrities. The Club continued on a reduced scale after the Second World War and in 1960, Spillers petfood company bought the club assets. The Club received a number of substantial legacies, and Spillers registered a charitable trust in 1972 to administer these funds - the Tailwaggers Club Trust. Today, Tailwaggers operates as an extremely small organisation, but it does make a real difference to pet owners, struggling to pay vet bills. Anything you can give will make a huge difference to needy pet owners who might otherwise be left with nowhere to turn."
