Description:		St Patrick's coinage farthing of Ireland, struck during the reign of Charles II. The 'St Patrick's' coinage was an unofficial issue of halfpennies and farthings, believed to have been made around 1674, but about which little is known. The coins circulated in Ireland until called in during 1680-81. In 1681 a Quaker named Mark Newby acquired large quantities of them and took them to the American Colonies, where he set up a Bank at Camden in New Jersey. In 1682 the General Free Assembly of West Jersey granted the coins legal status and they circulated until the early 1800's. They also circulated in the Isle of Man.
