											A two-piece sub-rectangular buckle with elaborate moulded decoration overall. The decoration consists of a crown at each end of the frame and two cherubs blowing trumpets on each side, the design most likely celebrating the coronation of King George III and Queen Charlotte in 1761. The buckle retains its steel spindle, triple-spiked tongue and anchor chape, but the middle spike of the tongue and the end of the anchor are missing. <br />
<br />
Buckles of this type, with the spindle running lengthways, were used as knee, stock or hat buckles.
