Description:		An early French Jeton with obverse design of shield of France ancient and reverse of triple-stranded cross fleury.  The specific reverse type of this jeton is not illustrated in either Mitchiner's Jetons, Medalets and Tokens or Les Jetons du Moyen Age. It is unusual in that, strictly, it depicts a cross fleury rather than a cross fleuretty (see below) and that the entire design is contained within the inner circle of the legend. It seems likely that this was an early experimental interpretation of the design that was not widely adopted. The use of the France ancient arms (more than three fleurs-de-lis) on the obverse shield is also consistent with an early date. (The difference between Fleury and Fleuretty is that the fleurs-de-lis emerge seamlessly out of the cross in the former type, and there is a line break between them in the latter.) From the same field as UKDFD 57769.

Description:		A double-reverse French jeton of the 14th or 15th century. The two sides of the jeton are of similar type, but details of their design vary. At the time of writing, no comparable double-reverse French jeton has been traced, although a number of double-reverse English jetons are known. The possibility of a fabrication made from two normal jetons cannot be ruled out, although no evidence of this is apparent on the images.
