Note
There is sometimes little to differentiate between BMC Type 20, which conventionally comes under Series K ('Kent') and BMC Type 18, which comes under Series L ('London'). Abramson groups the two series together under his Group 33, but it should be noted that in SCBC (formerly Spink), Type 20 is still listed under Series K and Type 18 under Series L. BMC describes the obverse of Type 20 as having a bust with hand holding cup, whereas that of Type 18 is described as having a bust with a long cross in front. However, many coins, seemingly including the present one, have both cup in hand and cross above.

An Anglo-Saxon sceat of Series G, possibly a contemporary imitation. The obverse is either very weakly struck or struck from a very worn die*. As a result, little of the original design survives, and the specific variety is uncertain. A diademed, right-facing bust with apparent arcs representing drapery below and a cross in front (possibly held in a hand of benediction?) is discernible.

* Another possibility is that the planchet was laminated when the coin was struck, and a thin layer later separated from the coin. This would be consistent with the recorder's observation that the coin - i.e. the surviving part - is very thin.
