The coin is of the Two-Line type, which was struck in two phases: Phase 1 (circa AD 905-910) and Phase 2 (circa AD 910-920). The two phases are primarily divided by the weight of the coins, which is between 18 and 23 grains for Phase 1 and between 9 and 15 grains for Phase 2. The coins of Phase 2 also have blundered legends.

The legends are blundered, with one side reading + EERNAV[ ]T and the other, + VVSI[ ]E[?]. Both inner circles have bands of cross-beading.

Only the centre of the flan survives, and the legends (frequently meaningless on this particular type) are missing. The coin, however, is a previously unrecorded variety of the type, in that it has a trefoil of pellets on either side of the hammer on the reverse. (A similar reverse is recorded on coins of the Two Line Sword/Hammer type, but not hitherto on those with Circumscription Sword obverse.)
