Description: A teardrop-shaped cast object, tentatively identified as an incomplete hooked clothes fastener of the early post-medieval period. The front face of the object is decorated with five roundels arranged as a four-petalled rosette, the central roundel consisting of a moulded pellet in a circle. The object is heavily corroded and much of the detail is now lost. It is possible that the four petals originally had insets of a different material. The attachment loop and the hook were most likely a separate part in copper alloy or iron, as indicated by the quatrefoil-shaped impression on the back surface. The nature of the corrosion suggests that the alloy has a high tin content.

Cf. UKDFD 18809, a hooked clothes fastener of generally similar form, but cast in lead.

Description: An incomplete two-piece sharp-hooked clothes fastener of the early post-medieval period. The fastener has a circular plate and  an integral sub-rectangular attachment loop. The separate hook, now missing, was attached to the back, apparently by two integral rivets. The plate has concentric decoration consisting of a raised, possibly cabled, border, a central domed boss, and annular recesses between them. The method of construction is very unusual, but would suggest that the surviving part is of lead-alloy (pewter), rather than copper-alloy as recorded. Pewter clothes fasteners were frequently of two-part construction because of the material's inherent lack of strength. The hook would typically be of iron or copper-alloy, but was usually embedded during casting, rather than riveted.

Description: The 'eye' section of a two-part hook-and-eye clasp for fastening clothes. It is oval in plan, with three pierced lugs, which were used to sew the clasp on to a garment. The rectangular loop received the clasp hook (see UKDFD 35367). The front is decorated with a floral spray, but it is very indistinct. The back is plain.

Description: The plate only of a lozenge-shaped, sharp-hooked clasp of the late medieval to early post-medieval period. It would originally have been of soldered five-part construction, consisting of this three-part plate, a sheet or wire loop and a wire hook, but the hook and loop are now missing. The plate is of three-tiered composite construction, each tier having a decorated border consisting of multiple oblique/transverse grooves within narrow strips defined by incised straight lines. Attachment marks on the back of the plate indicate that the hook projected diagonally and the clasp was orientated lozengewise in use, rather than squarely.

For a more complete clasp of generally similar form, see UKDFD 37443.
