Furniture Drop Handle https://www.ukdfd.co.uk/v46/artefact/post-medieval-to-modern/furniture-fittings/furniture-drop-handle-56868.html Wed, 06 Jul 2022 11:15:38 GMT Furniture fittings Furniture Drop Handle
Description: A furniture drop handle, complete with mount and escutcheon. The cast handle is sub-triangular with a decorative barrel moulding at the centre of its basal side. The other two sides are separated at the apex and terminate in pierced discoidal suspension lugs. The mount is a separate cast element, which is riveted to the centre of the escutcheon and furnishes the inner lug from which the handle is suspended. The axis bar connecting the handle and mount survives intact. The escutcheon is I-shaped and probably made from stamped sheet. It has an openwork 'rosette' at the centre and trilobate ends, each of which is drilled for attachment. The drilled holes are now filled with iron rust from decomposed fasteners.
