Description: A silver fungiform shirt stud of the early 19th century. Comprising two slightly domed "buttons" linked by a short central bar. The front button is engraved with the owner's initials, the back button bears the London hallmark used between 1802 -03. (The leopard's head guild mark is omitted, as is often the case on small articles made c.1790-1820.)
 

 For studs of similar construction, see UKDFD 5713 and UKDFD 5170, the latter dateable by hallmarking to 1798.

Description: A jewelled cuff-link with one complete button and one damaged button, which has lost its stone. The buttons consist of circular cups with a convex back and a concave front into which the stones were set. The surviving stone is convex, translucent and appears to be marbled glass. The metal cups are of composite sheet construction with a circular-section looped wire shank soldered to the back. The stone is retained by six claws, immediately below which there are circumferential grooves (possibly decorative, but also joints in the composite construction). The link is a flat, rigid type with an openwork design.

Description: A die-struck uniform button of the Belgian Pays de Waes Railway, a service between Antwerp and Ghent. The button depicts the Pays de Waes locomotive on a length of track, with CHEMIN DE FER inscribed above and PAYS DE WAES below. The back is stamped with the maker's mark L.B. The simple brazed/soldered wire-loop shank is intact.

The locomotive depicted on the button has been preserved and can be viewed at Belgium's Train World.

Description: A die-struck two-piece uniform button with separate brazed/soldered wire shank; circular; flat; an inverted anchor with three stars across, and the legend, SPES SUPER SYDERA (Hope Beyond The Stars); backmarked: EXTRA TREBLE STANDARD. A uniform button of the Hull Trinity House Marine School, opened on the 2 February 1787 with just 36 pupils. The school is still in existence today.

Description: A die-formed three-piece uniform button of Burton-on-Trent Corporation Tramways with separate fitted wire shank; circular; hollow; convex front; flat back; crimped joint; shield of arms of Burton-on-Trent, around which the inscription, BURTON ON TRENT CORPORATION TRAMWAYS; backmarked J R GAUNT & SON LTD LONDON.

The heraldic arms of Burton-on-Trent are blazoned: Barry wavy of six argent and azure; on a chief gules an eagle displayed of the first between two fleurs-de-lys or. The motto is HONOR ALIT ARTES (Honour Sustains the Arts).

The Burton-on-Trent Corporation operated electric trams between1903 and 1929.
