Description: A fragment of a Middle to Late Bronze Age dirk or rapier. The blade is rectangular in plan with a very slight taper at the lower end which terminates in an unequally sided blunt tip, (not necessarily the original tip). It has has a dark brown patina and there is possible evidence of a median rib on both sides.

The terms 'dirk and rapier' are loosely applied as there are no satisfactory alternatives to distinguish ancient weapons from others of later periods.

Description: A small copper-alloy dagger of the early-mid Bronze Age period.

The dagger is sub-triangular in plan, with the blade portion having a lenticular section. The butt-end of the dagger would have been attached to a handle of bone or wood via 2 copper rivets, now missing. The vestiges of one of the rivet-holes may be discerned from the imagery.

Shropshire FLO, Peter Reavil comments:
"I would see it as being early - middle Bronze age (1800 - 1400 BC). It is the remains of a small dagger - the handle of which would have attached though the flattened base with rivets. The blade looks good but has lost some material through plough roll. They are found in burials and also other assemblages."
