Although the Armistice of 11 November 1918 had marked the end of fighting on the Western Front, negotiations to finalise the peace terms were not concluded until the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on 28 June 1919. The reverse depicts a Phoenix rising from the flames surmounted by a crowned monogram of Elizabeth. Both obverse and reverse bear flattering Latin legends in two bands surrounded by a beaded edge.
