Description: An uninscribed gold fractional stater of the Corieltavi.
On the basis of the recorded weight of just 0.54g, the coin would initially appear to be an eighth stater, but a very worn quarter stater is regarded as more likely. John Sills (see below) notes that the coin is struck from the first known reverse die (rev 1 in his forthcoming publication), and that the only other example weighs 1.3g.

The reverse design appears to be derived specifically from the Gallo-Belgic Ca2 class 4 type quarter stater*, the only issue of that series where the reverse design disintegrates into a meaningless array of blobs, curves and pellets above and below a central bar.

Description: An uninscribed silver minim or fractional silver unit of the Corieltavi. The type is extremely rare and not listed in any of the main catalogues at the time of validation. It has been designated the 'Baker's Boar' type.

The present coin is possibly the fourth known specimen, of which two other examples are recorded as PAS LIN-C96559 and CCI 20.0897 respectively. The latter coin was also published in the January 2021 issue of Treasure Hunting magazine.
