Can I use record images in my intended publication?

Dec 23, 2017
The following policy statement is issued in response to an increasing number of requests from third parties to use images from the database records in both web-based and traditional printed publications.

In general* the UKDFD will grant permission for the use of database images, subject to the following conditions:

1. A request is submitted in writing to the UKDFD, giving the following details:
(a) Name of requester
(b) Title of publication (or web-site url) and name of publisher
(c) Description of images to be used (e.g. "thimble images", "short cross pennies", etc.)

2. An acknowledgement of the UKDFD as the source of the image(s) is included within the publication/website

3. It should be noted that any permission granted is limited to images on database records, and does not include images from reference articles published on, or accessed via the UKDFD website.

* The UKDFD reserves the right to withhold permission where it considers that the intended use of images is against the interests of the metal-detecting hobby.
